About Ash

My journey as an author started whilst at sixth form. I'd always been a TV, game and film buff, absorbing inspiration and life lessons from characters and shows. At seventeen I began putting together bits and pieces of ideas of my own and forming them into my first work - Stellium. Even around this I was writing non-related short stories and fan fiction. My friends and I were all interested in anime. We'd do our best to insert our characters into a main storyline and just make up the rest from there.

I'm a graduate of Law with Criminology, but even at university I was continuing to develop my Dark Aether series. I chose my field with an intention to join the police as an officer afterwards to have a normal career. Being an author was just a hobby, after all. I knew I didn't want to be a solicitor, as I wanted to get out and help people in a more proactive environment. Due to my eyesight, though, this wasn't to be.

The Dark Aether series eventually ended up in a long lost computer folder, going untouched and unread until 2023 when I wanted to show it to my partner. But before I let her read it, I said let me have a read through of it first, to make sure it's up to scratch. From there I started to write extra chapters and re-write the entire narrative. I was suddenly back into writing, planning and scheming until I'd created an entire map of the storyline from start to finish. After that, State Zero followed and another new series featuring Amanda Webb was born out of the interest in policing I'd held.

Once I was on a roll with these two projects, more ideas started springing to mind and soon I was drowning in inspiration. Even from just the notion of a title, I was getting small scraps of what the stories could become. Different genres and characters that will all be given life. Releasing State Zero and Stellium at the same time was my way of saying I won't be pigeonholed into one category when there are so many to explore. When I held the first proof copy of Stellium in my hands, it was then I knew: this is what I always wanted from the start. A lot more is coming and I hope you'll let me know what you think of my works.
