Which was your first book?
My first novel was Stellium, the first of the Dark Aether series. The original title of the series was quite uninspired and just went by ‘Legendary Heroes’. It was only when I came back to writing in my early thirties that I properly developed the series and it attained the effort it deserved.
Why did you stop writing?
When I was in my early twenties I had several rejections and for a young person in a big world with limited resources, that felt like the end of something I’d set out to do. The advents that exist today weren’t as refined as they are now which allowed me to start anew and get to where I always wanted to be.
Do you regret the time you didn’t carry on writing?
Yes and no. I massively regret losing over a decade from my writing career as I could have had so many novels out by now. However, by having the break away from writing to further develop as a person and understand more about storytelling from having consumed more media in the form of books, television shows and games I believe it made it the best outcome.
When did you start writing?
I began writing when I was seventeen. I began to get ideas for what is now the Dark Aether series and over the next few years it shaped into the book you see today as Stellium. I had some ideas for the following novels but I never developed them beyond that until later.
What made you start again?
My partner is an avid reader and I talked about what I’d written before. I realised I did want someone to read them again and that set about the re-writing process. Before I knew it I’d added on to my previous ideas and made them more concise. I had a new draft of Stellium and a chapter outline for every following book.
What happens now that you’ve started again?
I’m now ready to face the world with hundreds of ideas that I can’t wait to flesh out, the only thing I’m limited by is time! Whether it’s fantasy, crime fiction or anything else, I’ve got ideas for every kind of reader. Nothing is going to stop me anymore, much less myself. This time I’m here to stay and make my mark.
